President and Founder
John founded Mulligan Capital in 1984 with the goal of providing clients with a more detailed, practiced approach to retirement planning focused on retirement outcome rather than retirement income. He works with every client individually to create customized investment management and wealth plans. We emphasize a Household Balance Sheet approach to Life Cycle Finance to create a Retirement Income Policy. Since 1992, John has provided investment advisory services through Mulligan Capital, Inc.(and its successors), a Registered Investment Advisor --registered in the State of Oregon.
He earned his Masters degree in Economics from Central Missouri State University. John is a professional speaker, covering topics related to prudent investing and retirement income distribution planning. He is also the recipient of the grand prize for retirement income planning in a nationwide contest sponsored by The Center for Due Diligence. John was recently published in the: Retirement Management Journal, Spring 2013 issue ... "Solving the Annuity Puzzle Exchange".
On a personal note, John has been married to Linda Mulligan for three decades. They have two grown children, Meghan and Ian.
Lynn McKelvey, MBA
Portfolio and Investments Officer
Lynn has earned an MBA from Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management.Lynn’s expertise and experience are well-suited to our Team as the Portfolio and Investments Officer. Lynn has been in the financial services over 20 years. Lynn brings a depth of experience in the financial services industry including: investment business systems analysis; mutual fund distribution and marketing; both traditional and banking brokerage environments; and as an Investment Advisor Representative for a regional broker/dealer firm. Her focus is on optimizing each client’s retirement income distribution plan through solid planning and communication. On behalf of her clients, Lynn has established working relationships with local Attorney’s and CPA’s to help ensure financial objectives are met with the mutual trust of a Team based approach.
Lynn has earned an MBA from Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management; and, is a graduate of Whitman College, Bachelor of Arts in Math, minors in Economics and French. She holds a number of Financial services industry professional licenses: Life; Health; Long-term Care; and, Disability; and, Series 65.
As well, she is an Investment Advisor Representative of Mulligan Capital, Inc. (IARD # 143406).
When she is not at work, Lynn spends time with her husband and daughter. She enjoys tennis, skiing, and trips to Central Oregon.
Linda has been with the firm since its founding in 1984. As the operations manager for Mulligan Capital, she is responsible for the firm's daily operations. Linda also handles long term care planning and health care cost management—a role that leverages her 30-year background in nursing.
She holds her bachelor’s degree in business leadership, as well as the CLTC (Certified in Long-Term Care) designation through the Corporation for Long Term Care, Inc. This comprehensive background enables Mulligan Capital to address client concerns regarding COBRA health transitions, Medicare drug plans, and long term care issues.
Linda has been married to John Mulligan for thirty-two years. They have two grown children, Meghan and Ian. She is an avid runner and gardener.
Client Services Coordinator
Diane joined Mulligan Capital in 2010 and is responsible for ensuring that every client receives the best possible service. She has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry working with vendors and handling customer service. Diane has lived in the Portland area for over ten years where she enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her three children and three grandchildren. She also enjoys gardening, reading, and wine tasting.
